Pulling the Fish Together
<

A series of articles about getting along with each other.

We must understand that our unity does not lie in our agreement, but that agreement follows from our unity. We are one in Christ, and that’s the basis of our unity. Our disagreement usually stems from one of the following issues:

We should understand, that coming to agreement does not mean that you change your mind to think like I think, or that I change my mind to think like you think. It means, that both of us allow God to persuade us to think like Jesus thinks.

We may approach His thinking from different directions, and our initial toughts can be at varying distances from His toughts. Yet, when we choose to obey and let Him influence our thinking, our toughts will converge, in Christ. And this unanimity is not the basis of our unity, but the result of it.

What I’m asking, is that we trust in our unity in Christ and allow Him to converge our minds to the likeness of His own, and not put each other expectations He does not put on us: that we should think alike before we approach him.
