Pulling the Fish Together

Here’s a brief overview about what’s the status of the three major aspects – people, technological platform and community contract – of this project from my point of view. You can use the todo -list as an aid for prayer or offer to help in some part.

People

Done

  • Spoken to some people and showed some preliminary ideas.
  • Been in touch with people who have co-aligning visions.
  • Gotten some suggestions about who to contact.

Todo

  • Locate and identify key people.
  • Co-operate with them in the three aspects: work on community contract, work on technical base and get them bring their networks.

Notes

I don’t think I’m too good at networking, but I have felt some strong guidance in this respect. I hope the same applies to you, who know more people than I. People with whom I have spoken about this have in general been interested, but I’ve been reluctant to share much before I have something to show. Now I have a functional Internet infrastructure and a preliminary community contract, so we’ll see what happens next.

Technology Platform

Done

  • Www-server, mailserver and mailbox servers are all fully functional and capable of handling multiple domains.
  • WordPress and BuddyPress environments are in place and functional.
  • There are now several www-sites and blogs running on Diktuon.net.

Todo

  • Financial investment to get more server power.
  • Authentication system. (Needs more server power)
  • Webmail & other systems
  • User management tools

Notes

The server is underfunded and therefore under-resourced. My own ergonomy isn’t too great either. For this reason the email server can only take limited load, and I prefer to announce my gmail address with this draft.

One of the most important parts of Diktuon.net is to establish a social networking site for the Europe-wide community. Some of the technical issues need to be taken care of, like security, scalability, robustness and extensibility.

Community Contract

Done

  • This document.
  • Especially chapters about beliefs and values.

Todo

  • Update the text to www.diktuon.info as well.
  • Get feedback and iterate the theology and values.
  • Restructure, add relevant bits (like Kingdom & Trends)
  • Refine text in every fashion.
  • Add graphics. Create slideshows.
  • Translate into Finnish.

Notes

I think my presentation of the the basic values need to be somewhat refined. This document should rather be seen as a starting point for discussion than a authoritative instruction. So far I haven’t had too much input on them, and as such they only have a limited viewpoint. Nor do I think they are comprehensive or theologically flawless, as I am not academically educated theologian. They are merely an attempt to communicate a basic idea of some basic and fundamental issues in Christian.
